Theme Hospital is a business simulation game developed by Bullfrog Productions and published by Electronic Arts in 1997, in which the player designs and operates a hospital. Like most of Bullfrog's games, Theme Hospital is permeated by an eccentric sense of humour. The game is the thematic successor to Theme Park, a game also produced by Bullfrog. The game was a massive commercial success, selling over 4 million copies worldwide.

No development budget was ever disclosed. Checked: Wikipedia (including raw article source), the Bullfrog Productions article, the 2017 PCGamesN developer interview with Mark Webley and Gary Carr, and both current storefront listings - none carries a figure. The only nearby number is EA's reported $44 million / £29 million purchase of the whole of Bullfrog in January 1995, which is a company acquisition price and not this game's budget. The 1997 launch RRP could not be found either, so no estimated gross is given. The 4-million sales figure traces to Retro Gamer's June 2014 "Making of Theme Hospital" feature (print, no URL) via Wikipedia and could not be independently corroborated.
