Neither EA nor Pandemic disclosed a budget or sales figure. What is documented is the aftermath: the game shipped on 13 January 2009 to poor reviews (Metacritic 61 on DS, 57 on PC, 55 on Xbox 360 and 54 on PS3), EA shut Pandemic Studios down on 17 November 2009 with 228 layoffs as part of a wider 1,500-job cut, and Conquest stands as the studio's final release. Its online multiplayer was discontinued on 16 March 2010, barely fourteen months after launch. A fan project called MordorWide has since reimplemented the defunct EA Nation backend, putting the game back online.
